Prerequisites for Casting Care Upon The Lord

How many of us have wasted time, even days and seasons worrying and carrying anxiety that God alone can fix? I wish I could honestly say that I have always cast my care on God and walked in the perfect peace that He offers. When I think of the times I have allowed “care and anxiety” to steal precious time and moments that cannot be retrieved, I feel regret, it is not a tormenting regret, instead a regret that is used to teach me NOT to allow that to continue to happen in my present or future.  Perhaps you, like me need to be reminded to “cast your care upon the Lord for He cares for you!  I saw a post that Christina Blankenship had put on Facebook, this is her post “Worry is failing at fixing tomorrow and ruining today.”  How very true this is!

1 Peter 5:5 -7 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

If/when one resist authority, is proud or refuses to humble himself, he/she will be hindered from “CASTING THEIR CARE” on the Lord. Sometimes we get the “cart before the horse.” In other words, we try to get the results before doing the first thing. Too often, we try to do step number 2 before step number 1. Trying to “cast our care/worries” on God without meeting God’s requirements of “submission and humility” is a housekeeper complaining about the house stinking while refusing to throughout a bag or rotten potatoes. When we do what God is saying, then we can CAST OUR CARES and receive rest and peace from God. OR it maybe illustrated like this: God has been telling you to titheor quit overspending, or whatever it may be and you are all stressed about your finances. You keep telling God provide for you and take away your worry and fear but you keep having GREAT CARE/ANXIETY BECAUSE you haven’t humbled yourself under Him and his instructions FIRST. Do what God says and then you can “CAST YOUR CARE.”

Our problem is that we tell God what our problem is and ask him to fix it but He in turn tells us how to remove the hindrances so it can be fixed.

Our problem is that we want to do the same thing  and God make us have a different result.

SO… now that we have that taken care of, we can go on to the rest of the message and promise of God. Everyone understands the prerequisite to being able to cast our care?  Right?

Our problem is sometimes we sabotage the blessings/deliverance/provisions God’s is trying to get to us by unwise choices, ignorance of him and his way, disobedience or procrastination.

If we procrastinate on God, He may very well procrastinate on us. We can be sure the problem is not lying in God’s hands.

God’s Promises To His Children

Psalm 55:22 (NASB) Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

If we are shaken, it is not God’s fault. He has no faults. However we do, and if we can learn what those faults are, we can remove the hindrances to our receiving of his blessings and benefits.

Too often we try to bargain with God. We tell Him, if he does “such and so” we will do_____. We really need to remember God has every desire to give good gifts to his children and He will withhold nothing good from us.

Psalm 84:11   For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 11:28 (NASB)  Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. This is God’s promise and desire. Sometimes we go around weary and heavy-laden and exhausted from the stress and problems we face. What’s the problem? Have we not humbled and submitted to Him and his instruction OR have we not come to him in prayer and laid our cares down?

Philippians 4:6-9 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.  9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you

God’s Word instructs us TO WORRY ABOUT NOTHING! Instead we are to pray and give thanks and tell God what we need and want! (If when we do this, if God instructs us to do something, then we should follow through and the peace of God will then come!)

Paul also reminds the Philippians to keep their heart and mind in/on the right things…see above. Phil. 4:8-9

Even in the most threating and difficult times, God promises to be with us…Luke 12:11 (NASB)  "When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say;

God promises to provide for us as well. Luke 12:22-25  And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.  24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?  25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

Psalm 37:5 (NASB) Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

I think this means; you commit your way, do what God says and trust Him to do what you cannot do.

What care, need, burden, sin or weakness, etc. do you need to cast on the Lord?

Your Response in Surrender and Prayer: Dear Lord, I believe you desire to give good things to your children, especially inward peace and joy. I confess that I have not always come to you and received the benefits that you offer. I have stressed, worried and tried to fix things on my own that only you can fix. I ask you to help me know what I am suppose to do and give me the strength and wisdom to do rightly. I ask you to take care of these things (TELL GOD ABOUT YOUR NEEDS AND DESIRES) and I believe your timing will be perfect. Help me to live in patience and great confidence that you are working in behalf of my good and the resolve of these situations. Thank you for giving me peace and satisifaction in knowing that you are well able to take care of all my needs. I receive my inner rest and peace in You and I will rejoice that you are in control of all these things. In Jesus name, Amen.
